You're facing Complex 34, where the early Apollo missions with their Saturn 1 rockets were launched. This is also the site where the three Apollo One astronauts, Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee, lost their lives on January 27, 1967, when a fire swept through their capsule. It wasn't until October in 1968 when the Apollo 7 astornauts took off that the moon program was back on track.
