David's Island, 1983
Formerly Fort Slocum, now real estate developers have been trying to get approval to build a bridge and some expensive homes on the island. At one time the power utility Con Ed thought it would be a great place for a nuclear reactor - right on the border with the Bronx. There recently was competition for architecture students to think of a creative solution.
