Helen Hayes Theater, 1982

They tore the Helen Hayes Theater down in 1982. In its place stands the Marriott Marquis hotel with a revolving restaurant. It took me several phone calls to convince the builder to let me on the site since the destruction was controversial at the time. I took a chunk of gilded-gold molding for a friend who remembered seeing some great plays there.
