Grand Staircase

This is a composite panorama of the Grand Staircase on A Deck. The black & white image was taken in 1952 when the ship was new. I stitched it into a panorama I shot in 1999.

If you zoom out and pan to the left you can see the two elevators. Behind the elevators was the first class dining room. If you look closely through the doorways to the left and right of the elevators you can see out to the hull and portholes.

The U.S. Lines eagle in the B&W photo was made of aluminum and was sold in the 1984 auction for $1600.

This panorama is stitched together with Quicktime Authoring Studio from 12 photographs taken with a 20mm lens. I used a flash to light each photo since the ship is without any power.
